TRU-LINE AUTO BODY
The owner of Tru-Line Auto Body had recently purchased this business, and was looking for ways to make the location more memorable and inviting. The back wall is very visible from multiple modes of transport and is situated in Port Moody’s burgeoning brewery district, but was looking a bit weathered and run down. It was the perfect candidate for an eye catching mural!
This installation has an area of approximately 1300 square feet, and runs parallel to the West Coast Express, Skytrain, a major street, and a community of freshly built condos. The only direction the owner gave was that the design should be fairly simple, eye catching, and had to say the business’ name. The mural goes beyond that, visualizing Tru-Line’s work/brand on several different levels. The paint gun and spray pattern describes their work in a very literal sense, and the aerosolized, colourful fill of the letters has a more abstract connection with painting vehicles. Tru-Line’s new brand was also incorporated into the mural’s design – the spray gun is part of their logo, and the blues in the background have been taken directly from their brand’s colour palette. Every effort was made to not only create a piece of art that was memorable and well executed, but also to design something unique that was unequivocally tied to Tru-Line and the work they do.
