708 Sound is a new recording studio, opening in East Vancouver. They aim to provide their clientele with a painless experience, allowing creatives to focus on their work, rather than worrying about technical details. They have affordable flat rates, talented, experienced producers, and they can take care of the entire process, from recording to post production. Sculpting a look and feel that would appropriately reflect their clients’ experience was the primary goal when developing this brand.

The overall direction for the 708 brand is centred around using children’s building blocks as a metaphor to represent the creative process. The journey to create can be both simple and complex, with collaboration and fluidity often being important ingredients. Importantly, creativity needs a safe, stress-free space where this exploration, development, and growth can flourish. This is what 708 provides. The logo take basic building block forms and squeezes them together to represent both the fluidity and collaboration in the creative process. These simple forms are also employed throughout the brand – a simple, easy to use graphic device that is instantly recognizable. The colour palette’s punchy turquoises and yellows also help to solidify and enforce the building block concept.

I developed the majority of this brand, under the supervision of some very talented mentors. The name was decided upon before my involvement, as well as the request that yellow be included in the colour palette.
